Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes that Raheem Sterling is a better player than Mesut Ozil.

Sterling crashed out of the FA Cup with Liverpool at the weekend, as the Reds lost to Aston Villa, while Ozil booked his spot at Wembley with Arsenal's win over Championship side Reading in extra-time.

When it comes to who is the better player out of the pair, Owen is in no doubt that Sterling has the edge over Ozil.

Asked if he stands by his view that Sterling is better than Ozil, Owen said on BT Sport's Football Tonight: "Oh yes, definitely. I think so."

The former England striker is willing to admit though that he does rate Ozil.

"I think Ozil is a very good player", Owen added.

This season Ozil has managed nine assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, along with scoring five goals.

Sterling meanwhile has played 21 more games than Ozil has managed and has eleven goals and nine assists to his name.

The 20-year-old forward has been linked with leaving Liverpool after putting new contract talks on hold, with Ozil's Arsenal listed as a club interested in his services.
