Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed that his successful playing career and his legendary status at the Santiago Bernabeu gives him a great advantage in his management career.

The Frenchman, who was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant last year at Real Madrid, is currently managing Los Blancos’ reserve side.

Prior to his foray into management, Zidane enjoyed a stellar playing career and went on to make over 200 appearances for the reigning European champions. During his time in Madrid, the 44-year-old won the Champions League in 2002 and La Liga in the 2002/03 season.

With the French national team, the elegant midfielder went on to win the World Cup in 1998 as well as the European Championship in 2000.

And Zidane has revealed that his legendary status as a player helps him in his management career.

“I just try to talk to them and get something across to them.”

Asked if his status at Real Madrid is a hindrance to his current role at the club, he replied that it makes his job easier.

“Let’s just say it’s easier for me to express myself as a coach because of my background.
