Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has expressed his delight at the Hoops’ win over Dundee last night, adding that his free-kick goal that took his season tally to ten was special.

Ronny Deila’s men defeated Dundee 2-1 at Dens Park last night and thereby stretched their lead at the top of the Premiership to eight points over second placed Aberdeen as the reigning Scottish champions attempt to secure their fourth successive league title.

The Hoops headed into the match on the back of their exit from the Scottish FA Cup following their 3-2 defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their semi-final tie last weekend, which put paid to their dreams of securing the domestic treble.

And the Dutchman acknowledged that it was important to bounce back from the weekend’s reverse with a victory in the league.

“The biggest challenge was to bounce back after the disappointing semi-final”, he told Celtic TV.
