Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon believes that his side need time to gel with so many new players having come in over the last few years.

Santon, who flourished at Inter Milan's youth academy, left the Italian outfit in 2011 only to return four years later on loan from Newcastle United, with an obligation to buy option inserted to his clause.

And the returning full-back insists that the present Inter side are completely different from what he saw four years ago. He therefore feels the need to give it  time before the team can gel together and start delivering results yet again.

"We're still trying to gel, a lot of new players have come in and the team is completely different to the Inter side I played in four years ago", Santon told his club's official website.

There is no lack of effort on the part of the manager and the team though, the Newcastle United contracted player feels, as they look to give the team a new identity soon.

"We're trying to give the team a new identity and the coach is working on that too."

While speaking about experience, the 24-year-old added that they do not have any lack of it, with players such as Nemanja Vidic playing for them.

"Back then we had big leaders like [Javier] Zanetti and [Esteban] Cambiasso, but I think equally good players have joined like Vidic, who played for a number of years at a top club.

"That said, you need time to settle in, it's not easy. The same goes for [Xherdan] Shaqiri and [Marcelo] Brozovic for example. We need a bit of time, we have to be patient."
