Former Leeds United consultant Graham Bean has told the club's fans not to read too much into stories linking Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with taking over at Elland Road.

Hasselbaink, who turned out for Leeds as a striker in his playing days, has been mooted as a potential successor to current head coach Neil Redfearn.

But Bean, who was sacked as a club consultant by owner Massimo Cellino earlier this season, feels not too much should be read into the reports, citing his experience of the Italian frequently changing his mind.

Indeed, Bean says that after Cellino sacked David Hockaday as head coach this season, he first wanted Steve Clarke, then Paul Clement and then a host of other contenders, all within the space of a single hour.

Bean took to Twitter to write: "Wouldn't read too much into the JFH for LUFC story – After Hock, MC wanted S Clarke, then Paul Clement, then…., then…all within the hour.

"He even got [Carlo] Ancelotti on the phone and then baulked at the size of Clement's salary…….quite amusing at the time!"

Current head coach Redfearn's position is in doubt, despite him meeting Cellino's target of keeping Leeds away from the relegation zone in the Championship.

Meanwhile, a section of Leeds fans have turned comprehensively against the Italian businessman and at last weekend's match against Charlton chanted for him to sell up and leave Elland Road.
