Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has insisted that Manchester United have made no contact with the club over signing Ilkay Gundogan.

There was speculation last week that Gundogan has refused to sign a new contract with Dortmund and the club have agreed a €30m deal to sell the midfielder in the summer to Manchester United.

It was also speculated that the Germany international would sign a contract with the Red Devils during the weekend but Dortmund were quick to rubbish the rumours.

The Dortmund CEO stressed yesterday that Gundogan has not yet refused their renewal offer and slated the media for all the speculation surrounding the player’s future at the Westfalenstadion.

Watzke further added that there has been no contact with Manchester United and insisted that Gundogan is still considering the new contract offered by Dortmund.

“There is zero contact with Manchester United”, Watzke told Sky Deutschland.

“Ilkay has an offer on his table from us and he will have to make a decision.”

Gundogan was left out of Dortmund’s squad for their 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt yesterday because of a throat infection.
