Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has showered words of praise on Mesut Ozil and said that the German is bringing the best out of his team-mates.

After a period of indifferent form and injuries, the German playmaker has found his feet at the Emirates and has played a starring role in Arsenal’s recent run of form, which has catapulted them to third in the league table.

Wenger stressed that Ozil’s quality was never in question but said that the German has really come into his own for Arsenal in the second half of the season.

“People questioned Ozil”, Wenger told the club’s official website.

“Many people speak now about Alexis [Sanchez] but in the first part of the season Ozil wasn’t there. In the second part of the season Ozil has blossomed and is getting to where you want him to be.”

The Frenchman pointed out that the former Real Madrid man has been the creative hub of Arsenal in the last few weeks and said that Ozil has that one enduring quality that all world class players have, which is to bring the best out of his team-mates.

“He is a player that is the centre of our game and also makes other people play.

“The real players are those who take the qualities of their partners – Ozil is one like that. He is naturally generous.”

Ozil has scored four goals and provided six assists for Arsenal this season and is expected to play a major role in their crucial Premier League fixture against Chelsea at the Emirates later today.
