Wolfsburg’s 1-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach yesterday meant Bayern Munich won their third consecutive Bundesliga title, a feat which has been saluted by CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Hertha Berlin 1-0 on Saturday to maintain their title charge and Wolfsburg’s loss handed the league to the reigning champions.




With four games still left to play, the Bavarians are on 76 points, 15 points ahead of second placed Wolfsbuirg and have become champions of Germany for the 25th time.

Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge expressed his happiness at winning the league title and credited the entire coaching staff and players for dominating the domestic front again.
 


"Retaining the title is a magnificent achievement”, Rummenigge told the club’s official website.

The success is Guardiola’s fifth domestic title in six years as a manager; three out of four with Barcelona and now two in two for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich will face Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup semi-final tomorrow and are eyeing their third consecutive domestic double.

They are also in the Champions League and have the chance to win the treble for the second time in three years.
