Former Feyenoord coach Bert van Marwijk believes his old club are barking up the wrong tree by chasing Celtic striker John Guidetti, a player he says struggles to hold down a regular spot at the Scottish champions.

Feyenoord are keen on taking Guidetti back to De Kuip, where he played on loan in the 2011/12 campaign. The Sweden international is out of contract with parent club Manchester City in the summer and Feyenoord have already made him a contract offer worth €20,000 per week.

But Guidetti is keeping Feyenoord waiting and is aiming for a more lucrative deal with a weekly pay packet of between €40,000 and €60,000, well out of reach for the Dutch side.

Van Marwijk recommends that Feyenoord instead look to Michiel Kramer, who turns out for ADO Den Haag, telling Studio Voetbal that: "I would if I had a say in the top three."

And Guidetti is someone that Van Marwijk is not at all convinced by.

"With Guidetti you just have to wait and see", the man who led the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final explained.

"That boy has long been injured, doesn't always play at Celtic and the second time at a club is always difficult."

So far this season Guidetti has hit the back of the net 15 times in all competitions for Celtic in 35 games, with his goal return significantly dipping following a promising start.

When on loan at Feyenoord, Guidetti made 23 appearances in the Eredivisie and scored 20 goals, becoming a firm favourite with the Rotterdam club's faithful.

Feyenoord have already secured another old boy in Dirk Kuyt for next season.
