Jurgen Klopp has swatted away Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan being linked with a move to Manchester United.

It was claimed on Friday evening within Germany that Manchester United had agreed a deal with Dortmund for the playmaker and Gundogan himself would pen a contract to make the move official over the weekend.

But Manchester United quickly let it be known that they were not close to signing Gundogan, while Dortmund insisted no offer for the midfielder had been received.

With Gundogan's contract at the club expiring in 2016 however, talk of a move to Old Trafford for the former 1.FC Nurnberg man has not gone away.

But Klopp, speaking at a press conference ahead of Dortmund's German Cup match with Bayern Munich, says that transfer talk will not disrupt his side's focus.

"It's normal that players are linked with other clubs, especially here", he explained, when asked about Gundogan.

"But it does not interrupt our focus on the game."

Klopp is departing Dortmund at the end of the season and is hoping to finish the campaign on a high by guiding the Ruhr giants to the German Cup.

He must plot a path past Bayern Munich though to meet either Arminia Bielefeld or Wolfsburg in the final on 30th May.
