Leeds United legend Eddie Gray feels that the Whites' superior technical ability helped them see off Sheffield Wednesday in difficult conditions on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday took the lead in the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough, but Leeds hit back with goals from Charlie Taylor and Steve Morison to run out 2-1 winners in the Championship fixture.

Morison had criticised the pitch before the game and Gray feels that the playing surface combined with the wind made for a tough afternoon.

And the Whites legend feels Leeds' superior technical skill helped them to the three points by handling the conditions better than the Owls.

Gray told LUTV: "What we did was we coped with the conditions better than they did; the pitch wasn't very good, it was windy.

"I think we had that little bit more ability than them technically and that helps you when conditions are poor."

Gray also feels that Leeds could have run out more comprehensive winners at Hillsborough than the 2-1 scoreline suggests.

"So we took control of the game in the second half, passed the ball well around at times and could have added to our lead", he explained.

Leeds have one further game to play this season when they host Rotherham United in another Yorkshire derby in the Championship at Elland Road next weekend.
