Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are on the tail of Ghent youngster Moses Simon, who has been compared to a young Cristiano Ronaldo, and have been told by the Belgian club that their asking price of €20m is reasonable.

Ghent only snapped the 19-year-old up from Slovak outfit AS Trencin in the winter transfer window this year and he has taken to Belgian football like a duck to water.

So far Simon has scored seven goals in 12 Belgian top flight appearances, along with providing four goals for his team-mates.

The winger's performances have earned him a senior national team call-up for Nigeria and he made his debut in March this year.

According to Turkish sports daily Milliyet, Liverpool are rapidly putting in the legwork behind the scenes to mount a move for Simon in the summer, but Tottenham and Turkish giants Fenerbahce are also interested in the Nigerian.

Ghent are well aware they may not be able to keep hold of the winger, but have slapped a €20m asking price on his head, already having rejected two bids for being too low. And the Belgian outfit feel that such a sum is reasonable when taking into account how much English clubs pay for players.

General manager Michel Louwagie explained Ghent's position, with a nod to the English market, saying: "We've had two concrete offers for him, but these were too low.

"The price of €20m we've put on him? For the English market that's not even very much.

"When you see all these transfer fees across the channel…."
