Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has revealed that Lukas Podolski wants to return to Arsenal this summer.

Podolski joined the Italian giants on a loan deal until the end of the season from Arsenal in the winter window but has so far failed to make a mark in Italian football.

The German forward is yet to find the back of the net in the Italian top flight and has provided only two assists for a struggling Inter team.

It was widely believed that Mancini has lost faith in Podolski and is not too keen to offer him a permanent deal at the San Siro at the end of the season.

However, the Inter boss has revealed that the situation is different. Mancini bemoaned the fact that in Italy people are not ready to show patience for a new signing to settle down and believes Podolski is still a quality player despite all the criticism he has received for his performances.

But the Inter manager claimed that the German himself is not keen on extending his stay in Italy and wants to return to Arsenal in the summer.

“In Italy we have a habit of not waiting for something”, Mancini was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“Not everything can be done quickly especially when a player has moved from one country to another, on club to another.

“The same is true for Podolski, who I think is a great player and wonderful professional but the situation with him is different”, explained the Inter boss.

“He is on loan here and wants to return to Arsenal.”
