Borussia Dortmund are expecting a decision from Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan on a new contract offer by this Friday.

The midfielder’s future at the Westfalenstadion has been a source of constant speculation since last week when it was rumoured that Manchester United had agreed a €30m deal to sign him this summer.

The Dortmund hierarchy furiously denied the speculation and said that there has been no contact with Manchester United over an agreement for Gundogan.

BVB also stated that they have made a new contract offer that will replace their existing deal with the midfielder, which expires at the end of next season and are expecting a response from Gundogan soon.

According to Sport Bild, the 24-year-old has agreed to let Dortmund know whether he wants to sign the new contract or not by this Friday, making it D-Day over his future and potentially sending his suitors into a spin.

If the Germany international refused to sign the new deal with the club then he is expected to leave at the end of the season.

Along with Manchester United, Bayern Munich have also joined the race for the 24-year-old’s signature and Arsenal have continued to maintain their interest in Gundogan.
