Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has urged his team-mates to keep going until they seal the Premier League title this season, cautioning them against premature celebrations.

Having collected 77 points from their 33 matches, the Blues are sitting atop the league table – they are ten points clear of Manchester City and have a game in hand over Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

Chelsea appear destined for their first title in five years and Cahill, whose stellar performances at the heart of the Blues’ defence saw him named in the PFA Team of the Year, isn’t taking anything for granted until it is mathematically impossible for other teams to overhaul the Pensioners’ points tally.

“I have seen so many twists and turns in football I don’t even like talking about it until it’s done”, he told his club’s site.

“We are going to keep pushing and trying to reach the goal we aimed to achieve from the very first game of the season.

“We’ve done all the hard work to get ourselves in this position.”

Chelsea will take on Leicester City in their next league fixture at the King Power Stadium tomorrow evening and Cahill is wary of a team that have won their last four matches on the trot as they bid to stave off relegation.

“We need to keep concentrated when we go to Leicester; they’re playing very well and getting a lot of results at the minute.”
