Former Leeds United consultant Graham Bean has told the club's fans to take the Whites' reported interest in appointing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as head coach with a pinch of salt.

Currently Neil Redfearn is head coach at Elland Road, but despite the 49-year-old meeting the target set for him of keeping Leeds away from the relegation zone in the Championship, he has yet to have his position confirmed for next term.

Recently Leeds have been linked with Hasselbaink, who played for the Whites as a striker and has just guided Burton Albion to promotion from League Two.

But Bean believes the speculation surrounding Hasselbaink may be the work of his agent, claiming that the Dutchman's agent pushed his client forward when Leeds sacked David Hockaday earlier this season.

Bean wrote on Twitter: "As I said the other day don't read too much into JFH for LUFC.

"Last year after Hock agent was pushing it and doing the same again."

Earlier today Leeds owner Massimo Cellino insisted that Hasselbaink was not on the verge of being offered the job at Elland Road, suggesting he is less experienced at Championship level than incumbent Redfearn.
