Newcastle United are keen to appoint Rayo Vallecano boss Paco as their next full-time manager.

Following the departure of Alan Pardew earlier this year, John Carver was promoted to head coach but the Geordie has failed to impress the club supremo Mike Ashley.

Newcastle are on a disastrous run of form and their seven-game losing streak has more or less confirmed that Carver won’t find himself in the St. James’ Park dugout next season.

The Magpies are actively scouting for a new manager and according to Marca, the club are keeping a close watch on Rayo boss Paco.

Paco’s contract with the club is set to expire in the summer and though there have been talks between Rayo and his representatives over a new deal, the Spaniard is still waiting for them to make a concrete offer.

The 45-year-old is frustrated with the way Rayo are stalling over a new deal and is ready to consider offers from clubs in Spain and abroad.

Newcastle are keen to get Paco on board and believe the Spaniard has the ability to restore some of the club’s lost grandeur by making them play eye-catching football.

However, the Magpies could get sucked into the relegation battle if they don’t pick up points in their remaining league fixtures and preserving their Premier League status is important to attract Paco to the club.

Rayo Vallecano are 11th in La Liga and are looking for a top ten finish in the league with five games left to play.
