Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas has said that his team would take a Champions League win over La Liga this season, saying that the Santiago Bernabeu faithful have always favoured the continental trophy over the domestic title.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men are currently sitting second in the table, two points adrift of league leaders Barcelona and with four rounds of matches to go before the season comes to a close. The Madrid giants are reliant over the Catalans’ slipping in the league to have a shot at the title.

In the Champions League, Real Madrid have made it to the semi-final and have been drawn to play Juventus in the last four of the prestigious competition.

And Casillas, who has often come under fire for his suspect displays in goal this term, has said that since La Liga isn’t entirely in Real Madrid’s hands, they would rather focus on winning the Champions League for an unprecedented second year running.

“The coach already pointed out that the Champions League is easier to win”, the goalkeeper was quoted as saying by AS.
