Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn believes that the Whites should be happy with their 15th place finish in the Championship this season after they ended their campaign with a 0-0 draw at home against Rotherham.

Redfearn took over as permanent boss at Elland Road in November and took over a side struggling and appearing to be heading for a relegation scrap.

A particular low point for the Whites came with a 2-0 defeat at home against Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day and with the Latics having been relegated, Redfearn feels Leeds did well to flourish in the new year and secure their Championship status.

"Listen mate, when you're getting beat 2-0 at home against Wigan you'd have taken that all day", he told a press conference, when asked if he was happy at having finishing 15th.

"So, one point above the drop and to get ourselves comfortable in mid-table has got to be a plus. And to do it with a side whose average age is by and large 21 is another good achievement for us and the players have got to take a lot of credit for that", Redfearn continued.

"You say you deal with the stress, but it's been stressful, a tough season.

"The last thing you want is to have Leeds United in one of those bottom three positions", he added.

Redfearn is now waiting to find out whether he will be in charge at Leeds next season, with the club yet to confirm his position.

Whites owner Massimo Cellino is expected to meet with Redfearn next week.
