Juan Mata has warned Manchester United that they must get back on track as Liverpool are threatening to close in on the top four.

Liverpool beat QPR 2-1 today at Anfield to remain fifth, but the gap to Manchester United has been cut to just four points after the Red Devils went down to a 1-0 defeat at home against West Brom.

There are just three games left to play and Manchester United have now lost their last three matches, something which makes Mata nervous.

"We know that Liverpool and more teams are coming from behind so we need more points as soon as possible", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The Spaniard also expressed his frustration at Manchester United finding no way past a stubborn West Brom side, who defended deep and worked hard to ensure there was no way through for Louis van Gaal's men.

Mata explained: "It's a frustrating afternoon for us. If you don't score, it's impossible to win.

"We know some teams will do this and we have to find a way to beat them. We need to learn from this and keep going."

Manchester United's final three games see them take on Crystal Palace away at Selhurst Park, host Arsenal at Old Trafford and then take on Hull City at the KC Stadium.

Liverpool's final three matches see a visit to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea, welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield and then lock horns with Stoke City on the final day.
