Former Italy international Fabrizio Miccoli has pointed to a goal scored against Liverpool at Anfield as one of the highlights of his career.

The 35-year-old Lecce forward is coming towards the end of a career which has seen him turn out for Juventus, Fiorentina, Palermo and Benfica, amongst others.

Benfica went up against Liverpool in the last 16 stage of the Champions League in 2006, locking horns with a side who were European champions at the time.

The Portuguese side beat Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg in Portugal before winning the return leg 2-0 at Anfield, a game in which Miccoli scored, to spring a genuine shock.

And for the Italian, scoring against Rafael Benitez's European champions in their own backyard was a career highlight.
