Stephen Warnock has thanked Leeds United and Derby County's fans for their support this season, while reflecting on an ultimately disappointing campaign.

Warnock started the season at Elland Road, but switched to link up with Steve McClaren's Derby side in the winter transfer window.

Upton signing the former Liverpool left-back expressed his hope of playing in the Premier League again with the Rams, who were challenging for promotion.

But Derby could finish just eighth and outside the Championship playoff spots after suffering a shock 3-0 home defeat against Reading yesterday, meaning another season of second tier football for Warnock.

The defender took to Twitter to say: "Another season over. Big thanks for the support from both sets of fans I played in front of this season.

"A disappointing way to end though."

In total Warnock made 27 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring once and providing his team-mates with four assists.

The 33-year-old will hope to bounce back next term as Derby aim to once again push for promotion to the Premier League.
