Arsene Wenger has said that his Arsenal side’s performance can only be judged at the end of the season.

Though Manchester City’s win yesterday over Tottenham keeps them ahead of Arsenal in second, the Gunners still have two games in hand and a win today against Hull City will allow them to be level on points with Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

A team who have been battling to be just in the top four over the last few seasons, Arsenal have the opportunity to finish runners-up to Chelsea in the league this term.

Wenger admits that though his side have shown signs of improvements this season, it is not over yet and a proper judgement of his team can only be passed at the end of the FA Cup final against Aston Villa later this month.

“We have improved a lot this season”, Wenger told the club’s official website.

“Our defensive record since January is outstanding.

“I think we will be judged at the end of the season [on] May 30 after the FA Cup final [and on] where are we in the Premier League.”

The Frenchman stressed since the season is still not over, it is important that they keep their focus and do not allow the intensity to drop until the lights are out on the campaign.

However, he is already looking forward to the next term and said that he is himself very interested in observing if they can live up to the challenge of sustaining a title charge next season.

“We’ll see how well we have done. That’s why it is vital to keep the focus and hunger to go as strong as we can until the end.

“What will be interesting [next season is], let’s get a new start and see where we stand.

“We feel we have made up some ground, and that will be the challenge of next season from the start. Let’s show we are there and capable of fighting for [the title].”
