Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson admits that it has not been easy going for his team so far, but they need to keep working as a team and try to improve in the areas that they need to work on.

With another three matches remaining in the season and the gap between themselves and fourth placed Manchester United just four points, a top four finish is still a possibility and the 24-year-old insists that his team have to continue improving in particular areas of the field and try to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Henderson also stressed the fact that his team have got quality players and are on the lookout for new signings in the summer in order to increase the competition within the team and try to win trophies in the future.

The former Sunderland player is optimistic about his side improving as a young squad and keeping building as a team in order to make sure that they are well prepared next season.

Speaking about this year's performance Henderson told his club's official website: "It has been difficult, obviously, not having performed and not winning as many games as we would have liked.

"But we have to keep going and working as a team and keep trying to improve on the areas we need to improve on.

"We have got quality players here. Obviously bringing in people in the summer we will welcome because the better the players we have here, the better it is for everyone in terms of competition to get into the team, and push on and try to win trophies and try to play in the Champions League.

"We just have to keep improving as a young squad and keep building. I am sure come next season we will be raring to go again."

The England international also took time to reflect on their match against Queens Park Rangers this weekend insisting that getting back to winning ways was main objective for them.

"We knew it would be difficult because QPR are fighting for their lives. I thought we were good at times but can still be better keeping the ball in the final third.

"It was important to get back to that winning mentality. That was the main objective."
