New York City FC are keen to sign former Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole from Roma and have already placed a lucrative offer on the former England international’s table.

The 34-year-old joined the Giallorossi last summer on a free transfer from Chelsea but has struggled to nail down a starting spot in Rudi Garcia’s team at the Stadio Olimpico.

He has made just 16 appearances in all competitions from Roma this term and it has been speculated that the three-time Premier League winner might look for another change at the end of the season.

MLS outfit New York City are ready to offer Cole an escape route out of Roma this summer and it has been claimed that they have already placed a contract offer on his table.

According to Sky Italia, Cole and his representatives met Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini yesterday to discuss the possibility of him joining the MLS side at the end of the season.

Cole is keen to enjoy more regular football and New York City are known to have guaranteed exactly that to the former England left-back.

With his contract expiring at the end of next season, New York City would still need to agree a fee with Roma this summer to sign the former Arsenal man.
