Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is happy with Jack Wilshere’s performance in the Gunners’ win over Hull City last night, saying that the midfielder looked sharp against Steve Bruce’s team.

Wilshere returned to the Gunners’ first team when he came on as a second half substitute against Hull last night – it was his first appearance for Arsenal in five months following his recovery from an ankle injury which he sustained against Manchester United in November last year.

The England international’s season has been curtailed owing to his injury and he has made only 19 appearances in all competitions this season for Arsenal.

Wenger appeared pleased with the performance of the 23-year-old, saying that he looked sharp in the 30 minutes that he was on the pitch, but added that it is important for Arsenal to be patient with him and not be too demanding of the midfielder.

“It’s great and he’s sharp”, the manager told Arsenal Player.

“Maybe he felt too sharp because he wanted to always make the difference but it’s good.

“You could see that he has found his burst again.

“Let’s be patient with him, not too demanding either. It is interesting that he’s back.”

Wilshere may start Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture against Swansea on Monday.
