Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is elated with his return to the Gunners' first team following his injury-induced five-month absence from action.

Wilshere made a second half substitute appearance in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Hull City which was his first match for Arsene Wenger’s team following his ankle injury in the Gunners’ loss to Manchester United in November last year.

The 23-year-old is delighted to get back to full fitness, saying that it was frustrating for him to be on the sidelines for so long.

“It’s frustrating when you’re out but when you’re back on the pitch it makes up for all the time you spent injured”, he told his club’s site.

Arsenal have won nine of their last ten Premier League fixtures, collecting 28 points in the process – a sequence of results that has propelled them to third spot in the table.

And Wilshere has admitted that returning to a team that are in such an imperious form has made it easier for him to ease his way into the side.

“It’s much better for me to come into a team who are winning and playing as well as that.

“It’s easy because you can fit in when the boss is ready to include you.

“I’m just happy to get back on the pitch and get some minutes under my belt. I feel fitter for it, I’ll train next week and hopefully get some minutes next week as well.”

Arsenal will play Swansea in their next Premier League match on Monday.
