Portuguese outfit AD Sanjoanense have confirmed that they have an agreement with Liverpool to sell young midfielder Paulo Alves to the Merseyside giants.

Alves has spent time on trial with Liverpool and has impressed the Reds enough to cause them to move to take him to Anfield.

Liverpool have been in talks with the player's Portuguese side and a deal has now been done which will allow Alves to head to England to complete the formalities of the move.

AD Sanjoanense said via a club statement: "AD Sanjoanense would like to confirm that, after many months of negotiations, it has reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer, outright, of Paulo Alves.

"The agreement comes after a trial period at the legendary English club, which met the expectations of his parents", the statement continued.

"It should be formalised in the coming days, with the player given permission to travel to Liverpool in the company of his father."

Alves is 17 years old and has turned heads with his performances at the third tier Portuguese side, impressing Liverpool's scouting network in Portugal.

He is now expected to undergo a medical at Liverpool's Melwood training facility later this week before putting pen to paper on a deal which will take him to the 2005 Champions League winners.

The youngster is widely known as Paulinho and is expected to move to Liverpool when AD Sanjoanense's season is completed.
