Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is close to agreeing a new contract with the club after securing the Premier League title.

The 52-year-old is halfway though a four-year deal which he signed when he rejoined Chelsea in 2013.

According to the BBC, the club are keen to offer a new and improved contract to Mourinho after he secured Chelsea’s first league title triumph in five seasons.

Since his return two years ago, the Chelsea boss has always talked about his desire to stay at the club for a longer period of time and the Blues seem to be moving in the same direction as talks over a new contract are expected to be accelerated in the next few weeks.

In his first spell with Chelsea, Mourinho won back-to-back league titles in 2005 and 2006 but finished second behind Manchester United in 2007.
