Manchester City have joined the chase for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool.

The Belgian international is a crucial member of Rudi Garcia’s squad at the Stadio Olimpico and has played a major role in negating the effect of Kevin Strootman’s absence from the Roma midfield over the last year or so.

However, there is speculation that Nainggolan wants a pay rise and is demanding a salary of around €4m per season, the amount which Miralem Pjanic receives at Roma.

The Giallorossi are reluctant to offer that figure and it has been rumoured that the club are willing to listen to offers for the midfielder in the summer.

While Manchester United and Liverpool have a long term interest in the Belgian, another English club are keen to have their say in the transfer saga surrounding Nainggolan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester City are ready to join the race for Nainggolan’s signature and are keeping a close watch on developments in Rome.

The English champions want to strengthen their squad for a crack at the Premier League title next season and the Belgian is one of the players they are following closely at the moment.

A transfer fee of around €30m is believed to be enough to convince Roma to sanction his sale in the summer.
