Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton is elated with his wonder strike against Dundee last Friday, but acknowledged that it took him an entire season of trying to score.

Bitton scored an 88th minute long distance wonder goal in Celtic’s 5-0 rout of Dundee on Friday night – that win combined with Aberdeen’s loss to Dundee United the following day meant that the Hoops were crowned the Scottish champions for the fourth year running.

The Israel international, who has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys this season, has admitted that he took multiple shots from distance throughout the season and was glad to see one finally finding the intended destination.

“I tried a lot of shots this season”, he told Celtic TV.

“Most of them were terrible [but] the last one went into the top corner.”

However, he added that it is more important to win collective trophies with the team then to go in search of individual glory.

“But like I said the most important thing is to win as a team and if I get another wonder goal then it will be brilliant but the most important thing is to win the remaining games and to finish the season as strongly as we can.”
