Chelsea are in talks with Everton to sign defender John Stones, it has been claimed.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has quickly moved on from the euphoria of winning the Premier League title and is now actively thinking about bolstering his squad for next season.

And it is England international Stones who has caught Mourinho's eye as the perfect defensive summer signing.

According to Sky Italia, discussions are taking place between Chelsea and Everton, as the Blues attempt to do a deal to take Jones to Stamford Bridge.

Everton snapped the 20-year-old up from Stones' hometown club Barnsley in 2013, earmarking the young defender for big things.
