Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero admits that he would sign Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli in a heartbeat.

Balotelli has struggled at Liverpool since he joined the club from Serie A giants AC Milan last summer and could well be sold by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers when the transfer window swings open.

Ferrero has admitted his liking for Balotelli before and the Sampdoria supremo is still very much open to the idea of snapping up the Italy international in the summer.

He was asked about signing Balotelli by Radio Kiss Kiss and replied: "He is a big name and could definitely help a lot of teams.

And Ferrero admitted bluntly: "I'd take him to Sampdoria right away."

The Sampdoria supremo also mused about the possibility of pairing Balotelli with Samuel Eto'o, a pairing which would excite him.

"That would be great", Ferrero admitted.

Affording Balotelli could be a tough task for Sampdoria however, with Liverpool likely to want to realise a significant fee for the striker they paid £16m for less than a year ago, while his salary demands could also prove to be a further obstacle.
