Manchester City are preparing a €25m offer for Manchester United target and Hoffenheim playmaker Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian has caught the attention of some of the top sides with his exploits in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim this season and clubs such as Manchester United and Atletico Madrid are interested in acquiring his services.

Manchester United’s chief scout was even spotted with his agent earlier in the season adding credence to the speculation that they are ready to make move for him in the summer.

However, the Red Devils will now face stiff competition for Firmino’s signature from someone close to home as according to Sport Bild, Manchester City are in pursuit of the Brazilian.

The Manchester City hierarchy are keen to strengthen the squad this summer after a timid defence of their league title and Firmino features prominently on their shortlist of targets.
