Manchester United are paying €43m to sign Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, it has been claimed.

Dutch sources have consistently put the fee for Depay at between €30m and €32m, when taking into account performance related bonuses which could top up the total amount received, while PSV also have a sell-on clause included in the deal.

However, according to the BBC, Manchester United are paying an initial fee of £24.6m, along with a further £6.5m in bonus payments. That translates to a total fee of just below €43m.

If the total is true it will smash the record fee received by PSV by even more than had been originally thought. The club's previous record received fee came from selling Ruud van Nistelrooy to Manchester United.

Depay has scored 22 goals for PSV in the Eredivisie this season, helping the Dutch club to the title and ending Ajax's recent dominance.

The winger has also made an impact at international level, notably making his presence felt at last summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Manchester United saw off competition from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to win the race for Depay.
