Wolfsburg forward Andre Schurrle has revealed that Jose Mourinho has invited him to take part in Chelsea’s title celebrations on the last day of the season.

The Germany international switched to Wolfsburg from Chelsea during the January transfer window but is eligible to collect a Premier League winners’ medal.

Players must make at least five appearances to be eligible for a medal and Schurrle did clock up 14 league appearances this season for Chelsea before moving back to Germany in January.

Schurrle admits that he was not aware of the fact that he is eligible to win a league winners’ medal and revealed that the Chelsea boss has indeed asked him to join the Blues for their title celebrations on the last day of the season, when they will be presented with the Premier League trophy.

While he is pleased about adding a league winners’ medal to his locker, Schurrle stressed that the rest of Chelsea squad did a stupendous job in the second half of the season to secure the league title.

"I didn't know that I'd get a medal when I didn't play most of the second half of the season”, Schurrle was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I'd get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game. That was very nice for me.

"I'm really happy for the boys. They played a very good second half of the season so of course, for me, it's good to get a medal but the boys did the work."

Schurrle’s last appearance in the league in Chelsea shirt was as a second half substitute in their 5-0 thrashing of Swansea City on 17th January.
