Tottenham Hotspur are ready to hijack West Ham's move for Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang.

West Ham have been chasing the Spaniard intently ahead of a proposed €8m bid which has left Sampdoria ready to cash in and reinvest the funds over the summer transfer window.

But the Hammers will face opposition for the former Atletico Madrid man's signature from another London club as the transfer market begins to heat up.

Indeed, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Tottenham have now begun to show serious interest in Obiang.

The north London club's technical director Franco Baldini is thought to have received positive reports from his contacts in Italy about Obiang and is now looking at the possibility of tempting the 23-year-old to White Hart Lane.
