AC Milan are eyeing a deal for Barcelona midfielder Alex Song as a replacement for Nigel de Jong, who is expected to leave the club this summer.

De Jong’s contract with the Rossoneri runs out at the end of the season and his refusal to sign a new deal so far has been taken as a sign that the Dutchman is looking for a change this summer.

Though AC Milan are keen to keep him at the San Siro, the club are putting in place contingency plans should they finally fail to persuade the midfielder to stay.

One of the names doing the rounds within the walls of the club is Barcelona man Song, who has been playing his football this season at West Ham.

The Hammers are keen to keep him at Upton Park on a permanent deal but are yet to agree a fee with the Catalan giants.

Song is known to be happy to stay in London but AC Milan are now eyeing completing a deal with Barcelona to sign the former Arsenal midfielder, according to Tuttosport.

It has been claimed that the club hierarchy did raise the issue with Barcelona’s technical committee member Ariedo Braida, who was present for AC Milan’s match against Sassuolo yesterday.

Barcelona are believed to be ready to offload the midfielder and will sell him to the highest bidder this summer.
