Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland has heaped praise on Burnley striker Danny Ings, saying that the Liverpool target is a natural goalscorer and will thrive at a top team in the Premier League.

Ings scored 21 goals and assisted a further seven goals from his 40 Championship appearances to fire Burnley into the Premier League last term. This season too, he has been the top scorer for Sean Dyche’s team with ten goals, but they didn't prove sufficient for the Lancashire outfit in their fight to stave off relegation.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and is expected to move away from Turf Moor, with Liverpool said to be keen on bringing the youngster to Anfield.

And Butland feels Ings has the skills to succeed at a top Premier League outfit.

“He’s a natural goalscorer and if you give him the service he’ll put the ball in the back of the net”, the goalkeeper was quoted as saying by the FA.

“He knows where the goal is, his work rate is extremely high, and he’s got quality with it as well. I’ve got no doubts about where Danny can get to.

“Without a doubt [he can impact at the top end of the Premier League].

“He works extremely hard and when you combine that with his talent and the fact that he’s down to earth and grounded as well, it bodes well for him and whichever team he ends up at and for England as well.”

Both Ings and Butland have been selected by Gareth Southgate in the England Under-21 squad for the European Under-21 Championship scheduled to be held in the summer.
