England manager Roy Hodgson has praised Ashley Young's performances for Manchester United, but there is still no place for the winger in his Three Lions squad.

Hodgson has announced his squad for games against the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia next month, with three uncapped players included in the form of Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, QPR striker Charlie Austin and Leicester City marksman Jamie Vardy.

Young's international exile continues however, with no place for the winger in Hodgson's squad.

Hodgson insists that Young has been performing well for Manchester United, but feels now is not the right time to pick him.

He told a press conference: "On this occasion I decided it probably wasn't the right time for Ashley Young to come back, but he has done well for Man United recently."

Hodgson also addressed another Manchester United player in left-back Luke Shaw, who has been left out of the England Under-21 squad for this summer's European Championship due to injury.

And Hodgson is disappointed that Shaw will not be involved in the Czech Republic with the Young Lions.

"I'm disappointed for Luke Shaw that he can't go to Czech Republic with U21s but hopefully we will have him back fully fit next season", the England manager explained.
