Cristiano Ronaldo has wished Steven Gerrard all the best for the rest of his career and revealed he loved playing against the Liverpool icon when he was at Manchester United.

Ronaldo and Gerrard regularly came face to face during the Portuguese's time as a Manchester United player and the current Real Madrid star found the meetings memorable.

Gerrard is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season to link up with MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy. His final game as a Liverpool player will come this weekend away at Stoke City.

And Ronaldo has wished the former England captain every success in the United States.

In a video message to Gerrard via Liverpool's official feed, Ronaldo said: "Hello Steve. Just to say it was a pleasure to play with you for many years when we played Manchester against Liverpool.
