Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez has announced his departure from the club at the end of the current season and he will be joining Qatari outfit Al-Saad on a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

At a press conference this afternoon, the legendary midfielder announced his decision to leave the club and he will potentially play the final game of his Barcelona career in the Champions League final against Juventus next month.

Announcing his decision to leave the club he has been part of since 1991, Xavi said it was not easy to leave the club with which he has spent his entire professional career, but added that the decision was made in conjunction with his family and they all felt the time was right to move to new surroundings.

“I would like to announce and confirm my departure from Barcelona this season”, he was quoted as saying by Sport.

“It is a final decision and it has not been easy.
