Real Madrid are still monitoring Bayer Leverkusen custodian Bernd Leno despite their interest in capturing David de Gea from Manchester United this summer.

Los Blancos are keen to bring in a quality shot-stopper to the Bernabeu as a long-term successor to club captain Iker Casillas and De Gea remains their first choice target.

However, Manchester United are turning out to be tough negotiators and despite De Gea having just one year left on his deal, the Red Devils are rumoured to have asked Real Madrid to wait for at least one more season for the Spaniard.

The Spanish giants are desperate to land a young goalkeeper this summer and are now turning their attention towards Leno, who they have been keeping a close watch on for the last few months.

The Leverkusen custodian is one of the moist highly-rated young goalkeepers in Germany and according to Madrid-based daily Marca, Real Madrid have identified him as an alternative target to De Gea.
