Paris Saint-Germain believe they have jumped into pole position to sign full-back Dani Alves after reaching an agreement in principle with the Brazilian.

Alves' negotiations with current club Barcelona to extend his contract have broken down and he is expected to confirm his departure from the Camp Nou at a press conference held next week.

As a free agent after the end of June, Alves is an attractive proposition and has been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and PSG.

According to French radio station RMC, PSG have an agreement with Alves over a contract.

The deal on the table for the Brazilian runs for three years and nets him an annual salary of €2.9m.

Several details remain to be ironed out, but PSG are confident that Alves should be playing his football at the Parc des Princes from next season onwards.

Losing Alves will be a big blow for Barcelona, who cannot sign a replacement due to being under a FIFA-imposed transfer ban until the start of 2016.
