Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says he will take his side finishing fifth in the Premier League this season, believing it is a decent return for his first season in charge at White Hart Lane.

Spurs signed off on their Premier League campaign earlier today with a 1-0 win away at Everton via a Harry Kane goal which, when combined with Liverpool's 6-1 drubbing at Stoke City, means his side finish the campaign in fifth.

Tottenham will have no qualifier to play in the Europa League and can now concentrate on the summer. And Pochettino is pleased with the win over Everton and the Premier League finish.

Reflecting on the 1-0 win at Everton, Pochettino was quoted as saying by the BBC: "It was a really, really good day. The first half was fantastic, one of the best of the season.

"The effort was brilliant, I want to congratulate the players because it was a tough season and arriving fifth was very good for us", the Argentine continued.

"For a first season at Tottenham, it was difficult but I'm very happy."

Spurs also reached the League Cup final this season, but came up short against Premier League champions Chelsea.

Pochettino will now look to plan his side's summer transfer spending as Spurs seek to go one better next term and qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top four.
