Inter are poised to end speculation over the future of Argentine striker Mauro Icardi by tying him down on a new contract next month.

Talks between Icardi's representatives and Inter have been under way for several months, but no agreement has been reached, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all being linked with the hitman.

But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, a breakthrough has been made in negotiations and Icardi will put pen to paper on a new contract with Inter next month.

The deal will net Icardi an annual salary of €3m and run until the summer of 2019.

Inter have deemed keeping hold of the Argentine essential due to his strong performances.
