Louis van Gaal has turned his attention to the summer transfer market after Manchester United finished their Premier League season with a 0-0 draw away at Hull City this afternoon.

Hull started with real intent at the KC Stadium, knowing they needed to beat Manchester United to stand any chance of staying up.

And the Tigers suffered a cruel slice of luck when a Paul McShane goal was ruled out for offside in the 18th minute.

A second disallowed goal then arrived just two minutes later, with Dame N'Doye seeing his effort ruled out for offside.

Manchester United suffered a blow in the 22nd minute, with Angel di Maria being forced off through injury.

Hull searched in vain for a goal and tempers boiled over in the 75th minute when Abel Hernandez punched Phil Jones in the stomach from a corner, but it was not seen by the referee.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini was sent off two minutes later for a bad challenge, but the Tigers could find no goal though and slipped to relegation to the Championship.

Van Gaal was instantly questioned about his summer plans and said he has a big job on his hands with his transfer shopping.

"For me, that is why I am the manager. You have to decide which players are to go and which have to come", he told the BBC.

"That is a process. It is not so easy.

"It is waiting for clubs to agree or not. It is hard work, but more for [CEO] Ed Woodward than me.

"I go on holiday but I will always be in contact."
