Harry Kane has saluted Tottenham Hotspur beating Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park today and saluted his side managing to reach the Europa League without a qualifying game being needed, with fifth place secured, Liverpool dropping to sixth.

Tottenham looked by far the sharper side from the off, enjoying the better of the play and causing Everton genuine trouble.

And the visitors took the lead through the prolific Kane in the 24th minute, maintaining their lead into the half time break.

Everton tried to find a way back in the second half, but appeared tired and their play was lacklustre, allowing Spurs to cope with what was thrown their way.

With Liverpool being hammered 6-1 at Stoke, Spurs have finished fifth and Kane is relatively satisfied to end the season in a Europa League place which also means that no qualifying match will be needed, something which could have interrupted their summer.

"The most important thing was the win. We knew Stoke away at Liverpool would be tough for them, we wanted fifth and we got it", he told the BBC.

"I'm delighted to get on scoresheet.

"There's no qualifying game for the Europa league and finishing fifth is not bad anyway.

"We got to the League Cup final too so it's been a productive season", Kane added.
