Radamel Falcao has thanked Manchester United for giving him the opportunity to play for the club, along with paying tribute to Red Devils supporters.

Manchester United confirmed last night that they will not be activating an option contained in Falcao's loan from Monaco to keep him on a permanent basis. As such the 29-year-old has returned to the Ligue 1 club.

He struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford, with goals at a premium and manager Louis van Gaal regularly preferring other options in attack.

Nevertheless, Falcao has no bad feelings towards Manchester United for not choosing to keep him on.

He took to Instagram to write: "I want to thank Manchester United and all its fans for every word and gesture of support they gave me in every match.

Falcao is now expected to be on the move in the summer transfer window as Monaco look to shed his considerable salary.

The Colombian striker has been linked with Italian giants Juventus, while AC Milan are also thought to be monitoring his situation.
