Real Madrid starlet Martin Odegaard has expressed his delight at making his first team debut for the Spanish giants in their final game of the season.

Odegaard landed at the Santiago Bernabeu in January and became part of Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid B squad. He made his first official appearance for the senior team on Saturday in a 7-3 defeat of Getafe, when he came on as a 57th minute substitute for Cristiano Ronaldo.




The 16-year-old, who was chased by several of the European giants including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal amongst others before he signed for Real Madrid, became the youngest debutante for the ten-time European champions.

The midfielder was assured in his first appearance for the club and he has expressed his delight with the way his time has turned out at the club thus far.
 


“It was very special for me to play in the Bernabeu”, he told Real Madrid TV.

“I'm very proud and happy. I'm enjoying myself here in my first year.

“I enjoyed it a lot. I felt very comfortable.

“I was nervous about playing in front of so many people but I tried to enjoy it.”

Real Madrid have ended the season without any major trophies following their Champions League and Copa del Rey triumphs last season.

Odegaard will hope to play a bigger part in Real Madrid’s campaign next season.
